Our fees

NHS patients

If you are an NHS patient, including Choose and Book, there will be nothing for you to pay.

Pay for yourself

If you are paying for your operation yourself and have paid the Grosvenor Nuffield Hospital in full, then you should not expect to receive a separate bill for anaesthesia services.

Insured patients

If you have private health insurance, it is important to understand the details of your cover.  Not all policies are the same and many schemes have limitations and restrictions, some of which relate to anaesthesia.  Your policy may not cover your medical bills in full.  This means that you may be liable for an additional ‘shortfall’ payment to cover the total cost of your anaesthetic care.  If you have any doubt about your policy, please ask us for an estimate ‎and then confirm the details with your insurer.

BUPA

Currently, all Chester Anaesthetics LLP consultants are members of the BUPA Partnership. If you are insured with BUPA, an excess may be due on your policy, which you would have to pay.

All other insurance companies

Our standard fees for all other insured patients are based on the WPA benefit schedule. In order to access the WPA benefit schedule, you will need to have your procedure code to hand. This code consists of a capital letter followed by four digits and will have been given to you by the hospital or by your surgeon. You will need to click “I Accept” when prompted on the WPA website in order to use the service. Then enter the procedure code and click “Search”. If you have more than one code, please contact us.

Finding out the name of your anaesthetist

You may be asked by your insurer to find out the name of your anaesthetist in order to check that he or she is recognised by them. We can assure our patients that all consultant anaesthetists in Chester Anaesthetics LLP are recognised by all major insurance companies.

List allocations for individual consultants are only confirmed the week before the date of surgery, therefore it can be difficult to name with certainty the individual anaesthetist allocated for your surgery.  If you are insured with BUPA, you can quote our provider number (80001014) if they need to know the name of the anaesthetist in advance of surgery.
